Born and raised in Shanghai, Pixy Liao is an artist currently residing in Tokyo.
Her long-term photo project “Experimental Relationship” challenges conventional ideas of gender dynamics. She is a recipient of NYFA Fellowship in photography, Santo Foundation Individual Artist Awards, Madame Figaro Women Photographers Award, En Foco's New Works Fellowship, etc. She has done artist residencies at Light Work, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Center for Photography at Woodstock, University of Arts London, La Residencia, School of Visual Arts, Pioneer Works, and Camera Club of New York.
Liao has participated in exhibitions internationally, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Fotografiska, Rencontres d’Arles, the Asia Society, and the National Gallery of Australia, the Museum of Sex, etc.
