This portfolio was published to commemorate "Venezia '79- La Fotografia," an exhibition made possible by Unesco and the Municipality of Venice, in collaboration with the International Center of Photography, New York.
Although Arbus launched her iconic A Box of Ten Photographs in 1970 with an intended edition of 50, she printed only eight sets, most of which now reside in museum collections. This posthumous release of twelve works stands as the sole major portfolio of her photography published shortly after her death. Printed on heavyweight paper via rich photogravure (héliogravure), the set yields extraordinary tonal depth, deep blacks, and crisp contrast, in some respects exceeding the quality of standard gelatin silver prints.
